Definition

The Direct Seal Pattern is one of the Eight Characters pattern classifications, established when the Direct Seal appears on the Heavenly Stem of the Month Pillar or constitutes the primary Qi of the Earthly Branch of the Month Pillar. The Direct Seal symbolizes academic achievement and protection; individuals with this pattern are kind-hearted and diligent learners, well-suited for careers in education, culture, and related fields. They enjoy lifelong patronage from benefactors, yet must guard against the Indirect Wealth disrupting the Direct Seal.

How to Find

The Direct Seal Pattern is established when the primary Qi of the Earthly Branch of the Month Pillar is the Direct Seal, or when the Direct Seal among the hidden stems of the Month Pillar emerges onto the Heavenly Stem. For example, with Jia Wood as the Day Master born in Zi month, Gui Water (Direct Seal) governs the month, and the Direct Seal Pattern can be established.

Combinations

Direct Officer Generating Direct SealThe Direct Officer generates the Direct Seal, which in turn nourishes the Day Master—indicating literary distinction and smooth official career progression; this is the superior combination for the Direct Seal Pattern.
Direct Seal Protecting the SelfThe Direct Seal neutralizes the adverse influences of the Seven Killings or Hurting Officer, thereby protecting the Day Master and transforming misfortune into fortune.
Indirect Wealth Disrupting Direct SealThe Indirect Wealth overcomes the Direct Seal, signifying pattern disruption—leading to obstacles in academic pursuits or career advancement; intervention by Friend or Rob Wealth to control the Indirect Wealth and protect the Direct Seal is required.

Examples

Jia Wood Day Master born in Zi month, with Gui Water (Direct Seal) appearing on the Heavenly Stem and no Indirect Wealth disrupting the Direct Seal—this constitutes the Direct Seal Pattern, indicating academic excellence.
