Direct Seal

Ten Gods
印、印绶

Definition

Direct Seal is a Ten God whose element generates the Day Master with opposite Yin-Yang polarity; it symbolizes mother, education, protection, and benevolence. As an auspicious deity, Direct Seal in one's chart indicates kindness, diligence in learning, lifelong support from benefactors, and suitability for careers in education, culture, or public service—though it may also lead to excessive dependence and lack of decisiveness.

How to Find

Based on the Day Master’s Heavenly Stem, identify the Heavenly Stem that shares its Element but differs in Yin-Yang polarity. For example, for Jia Wood Day Master, Gui Water is Direct Seal; for Bing Fire Day Master, Yi Wood is Direct Seal.

Combinations

Officer Generating Seal (Guan-Yin Xiang Sheng)

Direct Officer generates Direct Seal, which in turn generates the Day Master—indicating scholarly excellence, smooth official career progression, and academic achievement

Direct Seal Provides Protection

Direct Seal neutralizes the harmful influence of Seven Killings or Hurting Officer, safeguarding the Day Master and transforming misfortune into fortune

Excessive Direct Seal Leads to Overly Strong Day Master

An overabundance of Direct Seal over-nourishes the Day Master, making it excessively strong and resulting in heavy dependency; Wealth Stars are required to break the Seal (Po Yin, i.e., using Wealth to drain the Seal) for effective action

Examples

For a Jia Wood Day Master with Gui You in the Year Pillar, the Year Stem Gui Water is the Direct Seal—indicating smooth academic progress and maternal protection during youth.
