Indirect Wealth

Ten Gods
偏财、横财

Definition

Indirect Wealth is one of the Ten Gods, representing what the Day Master controls (i.e., the element it overcomes) with the same Yin-Yang polarity. It symbolizes unexpected income, unconventional sources of wealth, and the father. Indirect Wealth pertains to public or collective wealth—unstable and transient. A person whose chart contains Indirect Wealth tends to be generous, sociable, and prone to receiving windfalls, yet also susceptible to excessive spending.

How to Find

Based on the Day Master’s Heavenly Stem, locate the Heavenly Stem of the element it overcomes (controls), with the same Yin-Yang polarity. For example, for a Jia Wood Day Master, Wu Earth is Indirect Wealth; for a Bing Fire Day Master, Geng Metal is Indirect Wealth.
