Fire

Five Elements
丙丁、火行

Definition

Fire is one of the Five Elements, representing the qualities of ascending heat, brightness, and passion. Fire's nature is fervent and uninhibited, governing etiquette and self-expression. In the seasonal cycle, it corresponds to summer; its direction is south; and its color is red. Fire overcomes Metal, is overcome by Water, generates Earth, and is generated by Wood. In a person's Bazi chart, strong Fire indicates an enthusiastic and outgoing personality, whereas weak Fire suggests low vitality.

How to Find

Examine the presence of Bing Fire (Bing Fire), Ding Fire (Ding Fire), Si Fire (Si Snake), and Wu Fire (Wu Horse) across the Four Pillars of the Bazi chart, and assess Fire’s strength or weakness in conjunction with the Month Pillar. Fire is strongest during summer months (Si and Wu months), extinguished and dormant in winter, weakened in autumn, and in a state of 'Xiang' (supportive phase) in spring.
