Forest Wood
Definition
Dayinmu is one of the Sixty Jiazi Na Yin classifications, corresponding to the Wuchen and Yisi pillars. Dayinmu symbolizes a dense forest—lush, flourishing, and full of vitality—using the imagery of mountain forests to characterize its form. Na Yin itself is a Five Elements and stem-branch spatio-numerical model; classical texts do not assign personality, profession, or fortune to it. Judgment must return to Five Elements interactions and the overall chart configuration.
How to Find
Individuals whose birth year pillar is Wuchen or Yisi share the Na Yin Dayinmu. Wuchen (Yang stem, Yang branch) and Yisi (Yin stem, Yin branch) reflect the Yin-Yang of the stem-branch combination itself; Na Yin has no independent Yin-Yang attribute, so it is incorrect to speak of 'Yang/Yin Dayinmu'.
Attributes
Combinations
Dayinmu Meets Fire
Per the Sanming Tonghui: 'Wood encountering Fire is consumed.' This states the Fire-overcomes-Wood generative principle; specific fortune depends on the relative strength of Fire, the root vitality of Wood, and the overall chart configuration—do not judge in isolation.
Dayinmu Meets Water
Per the Sanming Tonghui: 'Encountering Water, Wood is nourished.' This states the Water-generates-Wood principle; specific fortune depends on the clarity of Water, the vigor of Wood, and the overall chart configuration.
Dayinmu Meets Metal
Per the Sanming Tonghui: 'Encountering Metal, Wood is felled.' This states the Metal-overcomes-Wood principle; specific fortune depends on the strength of Metal, the rigidity of Wood, and the overall chart configuration.
Examples
A person born in the Wuchen year has the Na Yin Dayinmu; the chart's fortune must be assessed through the Day Master, Month Branch, structure, and Useful God—Na Yin serves only as imagery reference.
